BACKGROUND OF TGCDA

Trust Guarantee Community Development Aid (TGCDA) is a national non-profit, humanitarian and development organization, operating in the Greater Bahr El Ghazal, with head office in Juba, Central Equatoria State, south Sudan. TGCDA’s mission is to help grass-root communities and vulnerable groups in the society to get equal access to basic needs by developing their resilience against the effects of conflict, poverty, illiteracy, diseases and discrimination. TGCDA implement multi-sectoral programs that includes emergency response, protection, child right to education, gender mainstreaming programs, youth and women empowerment, health, water and sanitation, reproductive health care awareness and sensitization, HIV/AIDS and GBV prevention and awareness. These responds geared toward economic sustainability and opportunities for the returning population and vulnerable groups in the communities. TGCDA is staging multi-sectoral response to address the humanitarian needs of internal displaced people (IDPs) in Kuajok, Warrap State and host communities to realize stability and access to basic needs and assistance. To effectively achieve the programme objectives, TGCDA committed to, engross, participate and work closely with most affected vulnerable communities to enhance and advocate for development and humanitarian supports at its critical situations to address humanitarian challenges and global hunger threat; as well as providing a platform for the socio-economic inspiration and empowerment of local community and beyond through lobbying, mentoring, and networking, strategic alliances, and developing and recognizing the need for a sustainable development environment.
The mission statement highlights two harmonizing and intrinsically linked goals: ending under-development, extreme poverty and promoting and building resilient, democratic society that is able to realize their potential. TGCDA fundamentally believe that helping the most needed and ending extreme poverty requires enabling environment inclusive, sustainable growth; promoting free, peaceful, and self-reliant society with effective, legitimate governance; building human capital and creating social safety nets that reach the poorest and most vulnerable group.
Correspondingly, our cross-cutting efforts in promoting humanitarian relief, human rights, rule of law and good governance, more especially empowering women and girls, advancing prosperity, building resilient society, and mitigating conflict are all essential to ending inter and intra-communal conflict and extreme poverty and under-development in the most vulnerable communities of Warrap States, South Sudan.

Resilient, democratic societies don’t simply maintain stability: they are essential to sustaining development progress. Resilient, democratic societies feature broad-based economic growth; healthy, well-nourished, and educated populations; and environmental sustainability. They embrace not only elections, but also legitimate, inclusive, and accountable institutions that effectively deliver services to all of their people, respect and promote human rights, and strive to advance freedom, human dignity and development. They have the ability to manage conflict, mitigate the impact of natural disasters, and forestall crisis that otherwise roll back development gains. These societies are equipped to ensure that pathways out of conflict are sustained.
At the core of our mission is a deep commitment to work as partners in fostering sustainable development. Rather than impose, we seek to empower and support through collaboration. We work hand-in-hand with those we seek to assist as well as others striving to support the most vulnerable. Communities must increasingly be able to meet the needs of their citizens whether by providing health care, education, or economic opportunity, etc.
TGCDA’s efforts directly enhance community empowerment and prosperity. The community is safer and stronger, when fewer people face destitution, when our partners are flourishing, when community can withstand crisis, and when societies are freer, and more inclusive, protecting the basic rights and human dignity of all citizens. These two goals, together, we position ourselves to meet the challenges of today while mitigating the risks of tomorrow.
